Find Yourself with an Embroidery Kit

Choosing the perfect lunch is surprisingly hard.

Choosing the perfect lunch is surprisingly hard.
The hunger before you eat.
Distance from the office.Afternoon plans.Time spent waiting in line. What’s in your wallet.

Through some thought process we don’t fully understand, we decide, “This is what I want to eat today.”

For example, when you’re hungry.
“Today, only katsudon will do.”Your head fills with freshly fried batter and sweet-savory sauce. Thinking katsudon, katsudon ♬, you head to the katsudon shop and actually eat katsudon.
You eat thinking, “Juicy,” “This is good.”

But after finishing, you get heartburn and your body feels heavy.
“Wait—did I really want katsudon today?”

There are days you feel that way.

On the other hand, conversely,
there are days when you can think, “Ah, I’m glad I ate this today.”
While eating and after finishing, it feels right,
“This is the perfect lunch.”

There are lunches that let you feel that way.

It seems that what you truly wanted can be hard to know even for yourself.

In Everyday Life, Your Own Outline Grows Blurry

Also, every day we live with someone, work with someone, and relate to someone.
Within that, there are many moments when we have to compromise with our own feelings.

Even if you really want to stay home today and slowly read a book,

family says,“Let’s go shopping.”

“I want to stay home today.”If you say that, the atmosphere might turn sour.

So,“Sure.”
you answer.

Also, in a company meeting,

“It would be better to do it this way.”Even if you think that,

the discussion is about to settle, and
if you speak up here, the talk goes back to square one.

So,“Let’s proceed with this for now.”
you nod.

Speaking your true feelings is not always right. Staying silent cannot be called a mistake either.

When you engage with people in society, you naturally enter such ambiguity.

Every day we
live while gradually compromisingbetween our own feelings andour relationships with others.

Often that is also rational.

But when that time continues for long,
little by little,“What did I really most want to do?”that outline grows blurry.

Beyond Following the Chart: Embroidery That Is Only Mine

At such times, embroidery may be able to help you a little.

If you are embroidering for the first time, you begin by stitching a basic kit according to the chart.
Passing the needle, drawing the thread, forming shapes one stitch at a time

At first, you are only tracing the steps.

But then something makes you think, “Oh.”
While your hands are moving,suddenly,

“I’d like this petal a little fluffier.”
“It might be lovely to let one sunflower bloom here.”

Such thoughts arise naturally.

No one told you to.
It is not for evaluation either.

Just a small idea born from within yourself.
And nothing stops that idea.

“Do it this way.”No one says that, and
“That’s wrong.”no one says that either.

Cloth, thread, and needle

simply, quietly, receive that feeling.
